Lightbulb User Priority Privilege W/ Guru Membership?

I have been actively participating on guildwardguru.com as a member for awhile and have been considering becoming a subscription member. I have read and reviewed the membership options and they seem great however the perks provided were not what I was really looking for. The removal of the adds is nice, the monthly drawings are great, and the ability to list polls is also cool but I would much rather have speed!

I was wondering whether or not if becoming a member gives you priority on the server. By this I mean do I get a fast page load then other non-member or non-subscribers regardless of the the amount of connection attempts, visitors, or members logged in.

If it does not, what portion of my monthly subscription fee goes to funding more servers or upgrades to existing ones in-order to handle the increasing load guru has been experiencing.

~Cheers

server speed has nothing to do with guru---its your internet connection that gives you that.
As for priority, sorry no.....I have actually found that not logging in makes the pages run faster (and to get rid of the ads I just use ad blocker).
I have been an elite (and core) guru for the past few years, its a good thing to do if you use this site a lot.. (so there can be a guru).....

I'm pretty sure Guru's speed does differ, as it goes from fast to extremely slow depending on the congestion and time of day.

I don't know how the Guru guys could get around to doing that, but having more loading priority over other members would probably help your speed

The paid memberships came about as a way to contribute to improving the server. That initial upgrade was made and, I can testify, it made a huge difference in server response.

As the administration and moderators are unpaid volunteers, I would assume that the entire subscription amount would go towards maintenance and hosting, with some portion set aside for future upgrades. There is not a huge number of paid memberships.

I can also testify that you do not receive any priority treatment as a Elite or Core member. You receive only what is listed in the membership benefits list - no more and sometimes less.

(thats what happens when you type and talk on the phone and such at the same time....)

yes the servers here are slow, but some people also have extra connection problems due to slow dsl/dial-up etc....which there is nothing that guru can do anything about---time to go to bed.

No. My internet connection has nothing to do with it. My internet connection is above average and that is what I would have considered first. I have this problem no matter where I log into whether from work, home, a friends house ect. Guru is consistently the only website that has trouble loading. And for obvious reasons, there seem to be at any given point over 1500 users and guest on at a time. Prob on the low end you are looking at 3000 server request per min or two.

But I will try not logging in and see if indeed that effects load time or not. Thanks for the other tips too guys. Hopefully my membership fee's will go towards upgrading the servers
